Spiderman has his “Spidey sense.”
Ironman is a technological wizard.
The Hulk has “incredible” strength and size.
These heroes all have something that makes them “super.”
To continue your journey to financial freedom, you will need one.
A skillset so unique to you that you are hard to replace.
Everyone Has a “Super” Power
I believe everyone has a skill they are good enough at that they can earn a living from.
A living does not always necessarily mean millions of dollars a year (yet) but it can be a good start for you on your journey to financial freedom.
Let’s look at some of the people around us.
We all have a friend that is good with people and just understands them.
This person can become a great salesman, customer service representative, or someone working in human resources.
Another friend can enjoy doing things with his hands and is very detail oriented. They can become a dentist or wood carver.
Another friend is very analytical and is good with numbers. They can become a business analyst or data scientist.
Another friend loves helping people and wants to help heal them. They can become a physician or a therapist.
What are YOU known for in your circle of friends?
What is a skill or power you have that is so unique to you?
A skill or power you are so good at people will literally throw money at you for?
Mr. Market Tells You How Much Your Skills Are Worth
You may think your superpowers are valuable but the real judge of this will be “Mr. Market.”
One thing I have learned from investing is that Mr. Market is ALWAYS right.
It doesn’t matter what you think a stock is worth. If it’s overvalued or undervalued.
The current stock price is the stock price.
The same thinking applies to your skills as well.
The market tells you what your skills are worth. If the market values your skills they are willing to pay a price for it.
If the market doesn’t value your skills they are not willing to pay a high price for it.
Wonder why fast-food jobs pay so little?
The employees are easily replaced.
The value the employees provide to the business is low.
The value is in the business system.
The employees in this system have no “superpowers.”
Wonder why salespeople make so much money?
The market tells the rainmakers their services are in demand.
The value a salesperson provides to the business can be high.
Their superpowers are prospecting and closing deals.
Whatever your superpower is, it may lead to your financial success and may be the key to your financial success.
Don’t think you have a superpower? That’s ok too…
Keep Leveling Up Your Super Powers
As the world changes around us we must change with it or get left behind. This often means an investment of money and time to learn and study.
Are you taking enough continuing education classes for a license you hold?
Are you taking new classes for an emerging technology?
In other words, are you leveling up your skillsets or are letting them get stagnant?
One way I have found to be effective in keeping consistent is to factor this learning into your monthly budget. Have a line-item expense dedicated to learning and your skills.
It doesn’t have to be a major amount and even $20 dollars (the cost of a couple trips to Starbucks) over time can compound.
Because you spent this money on training or learning you will value it more and will put in more effort. The more money the more effort.
Over time this can eventually help you build a unique superpower.
